What is Ceramics Now?
We are a small non-profit organization established to promote, advance and document contemporary ceramic art. We make CeramicsNow.org and Ceramics Now Magazine with the help of contributors from around the world.
Why is CeramicsNow.org becoming a subscription-based site?
For two reasons—to survive and to create better content for you. Subscriptions will enable us, for the first time, to pay the writers that make Ceramics Now what it is.
Why should I get a CeramicsNow.org Subscription?
Because it will give you unrestricted access to all the content we publish—complete interviews, in-depth reviews, and curated artist projects. Each subscription enables us to promote and document contemporary ceramic art. Annual subscribers will receive the digital editions of Ceramics Now Magazine for free, in PDF and ePub format.
How much will a CeramicsNow.org Subscription cost?
You will be able to subscribe by choosing either a recurring monthly subscription, which will be $2,99, or a one-time annual subscription, which will be $29,99.
If I have a computer at home and a tablet at my studio, do I need to purchase two subscriptions?
No. You will be able to log in using your email and password from wherever you access the internet. As a subscriber, you will get full access to CeramicsNow.org from any computer, tablet, or phone.
How come you don’t make enough money? I see ads on your website.
Ads never made us more than $200 (yes, that’s two hundred) per month. We don’t have that many visitors and we can’t attract advertisers directly because 1. we are an art website—very limited pool of advertisers, and 2. we have an international audience—we can not offer advertisers enough readers from one particular country. Ads will no longer be displayed after the metered system sets in.
I am a Ceramics Now Magazine subscriber but never received any issue. Why?
We are deeply sorry for this. Everyone works voluntarily at Ceramics Now (we never had full-time staff), and we found it very difficult to create the magazine. Due to lack of resources, the magazine was put on hold for almost two years, and work on the third issue resumed only this year. Consequently, Issue 3 is scheduled to be launched in May 2015. If you are upset with the situation, we will happily give you a refund.
I don’t like paying for online content.
We hate to lose loyal readers, but this is the only solution that will allow us to exists. We have to ask for your support here. Some of our content, like the homepage, section fronts of our website, and lists will always remain free for any to access. Plus you can enjoy up to five articles per month for free (choose wisely). If you are a student and can not afford $2,99, please email us.
Current Ceramics Now Magazine print and digital subscribers will receive an annual subscription to CeramicsNow.org for free.
