Sakari Kannosto: From the Stars, 2023

From the Stars is a miniature sculpture series I started creating in 2023. The series has a bridge to childhood games and is influenced by space romance, science fiction and cartoons. In the series, we visit distant planets and move in a timeless landscape. The works are often visited by a small dog and a lone rider. In the series of works, you move from one place to another with a large, friendly, and loyal creature. The series is a dear side project, which I continue whenever I feel like being a romantic adventurer. The series is also about loneliness, friendship, trust and love. In the bigger picture, it can also tell a story about the human race’s plan B.

For me, ceramics and storytelling are ways to take a stand and ask questions. They also help me grow as a person, an artist, and a visual arts educator.
