Andrea Scholze: From the Ascending Sun, 2016

“From the Ascending Sun” (2016, highfired glazed and unglazed ceramics, LED-light, welded steel, vintage glass, plexiglass, silicone) is made up of four compositions. The installation is playing with elements belonging to different styles and time periods, from ancient Egypt to science fiction films’ retro-futuristic esthetic. As one would put together objects and things for an interior or for a film set, different large ceramic objects are put together complimenting and contrasting each other in this visual installation. Inspired by films with strong visual elements, such as the genres Science Fiction and Italian Giallo films, as well as vintage bold statement interiors from 70- 80´s books.
