Jane King: Chaos and Order at ACEarts, Somerton, 2022

Jane King: Chaos and Order is on view at ACEarts, Somerton, UK

March 5 – April 2, 2022

UK-based ceramic artist Jane King presents her second solo exhibition in the Second Space at leading art and craft gallery, ACEarts, Somerton, from March 5 – April 2 2022. The exhibition includes a range of her dynamic sculptures, including new work made especially for the show.

Jane’s work uses contrasting forms, textures and colours as metaphors for chaos and order. Vivid, flat acrylic surfaces contrast with muted, messy or collapsing sections that express the contrast between how we would like life to be and how it really is. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, she has made pieces which twist and writhe, expressive of discomfort and anxiety. Jane’s work is hand-built or thrown on the wheel and altered.

Jane said, ‘I am excited to exhibit at the prestigious gallery ACEarts, which hosts a range of innovative art and craft exhibitions throughout the year, and am looking forward to showing some new, previously unexhibited pieces.’
ACEarts said, ‘We are thrilled to be able to showcase Jane’s ceramic sculpture and invite our audience to marvel at their form, colour and texture: their perfect imperfection.’

Jane King is a ceramic artist based in Brighton, UK. She gained her MA in Ceramics from Bath Spa University in 2012, and since then has exhibited widely. Her work has been shortlisted for a number of national and international prizes, including the Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize 2014, and the BADA Art Prize 2021. She was awarded the Medal of the President of the Italian Senate in the 2013 iteration of the International Competition for Contemporary Ceramics, Museum of Ceramics, Faenza. Her work is held in a number of private and public collections.
