🏠 The Clay Studio (Philadelphia) is moving to a new location, the first-of-its-kind ceramic arts facility built from the ground up in the United States. This is a major event thay deserves to be celebrated & a recipe that should be copied all over the world. Their new home has 193% more classroom space and 88% more kiln capacity, among other improvements. Making Place Matter, their inaugural exhibition with Kukuli Velarde, Molly Hatch, and Ibrahim Said, will open on April 23.
👌 There are about two weeks left to register for the 35th California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts, which will take place April 29-30, 2022. The John Natsoulas Center for the Arts (Davis, CA) is proud to continue the largest sculptural ceramics conference in the world. The event includes lectures, demonstrations and over 40 concurrent exhibitions.
🔥 CLAY LA 2022, Craft Contemporary’s annual open market and fundraiser will take place at the end of this month and will showcase emerging and established ceramic makers in the Los Angeles area. Meet and shop from some of LA’s most vibrant makers, celebrated for their often unexpected approaches to art and design.
☘ The 10th annual Maine Pottery Tour welcomes visitors on April 30 and May 1, 2022. Nearly 60 pottery studios around the state are organized into 3 regions, allowing several studios to be visited in a single outing. It’s a fun chance to meet the artists, peek in the kilns, see demonstrations, and shop for pottery and other handmade goods.
📌 The 7th edition of Argillà Italia – International Ceramics Festival & Market-Fair will take place September 2-4, 2022, in Faenza, Italy. If you’d like to host a side event (exhibition, workshop) during Argillà, head over to their open call.
👉 Two wonderful events took place this last weekend, and a third one is taking place this week:
1. Ceramic Art London, which took place at Central Saint Martins, London, featured over 90 artists working with ceramics. The event also included a curated series of talks discussing the social, cultural and historical significance of ceramics.
2. CLAY Voices, the third edition of an online gathering on Instagram connecting ceramic artists across Canada. Read more about this event on Musing About Mud.
3. Clay Gulgong, a ceramics biennial that takes places in New South Wales, Australia. The event also features a World Stage and an Emerging World Stage exhibition.

🎉 The Journal of Australian Ceramics is turning 60 this year. Happy anniversary! They are celebrating this milestone with SIXTY, a superb exhibition created in partnership with the Australian Design Centre. The exhibition will tour to 17 art centres across Australia from 2022 to 2026.
