Summary
The Art and Design programs are designed to prepare majors for their future lives as professionals in the filed of art and for advanced study at the graduate level. The classes are designed to foster individual growth in an integrated academic studio environment. The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) is respected as the professional degree for Studio Art. The Bachelor of Art (B.A.) is a second-degree option for Studio Art.

Job title: Adjunct Professor for Studio Art – Ceramics.

Knowledgeable and Experienced in Ceramic, Basic Handbuilding.
ART 141 – BASIC HANDBUILDING (3)

Introduction to ceramics as an art medium, using traditional hand building techniques and basic glazing and firing process. (Special fee)

Essential Functions
• Deliver classroom material in a clear and effective manner.
• Create a unified comprehensive syllabus in accord with the College of Arts & Sciences format
• Create a course Canvas site as per College of Arts and Sciences format
• Create, administer and evaluate exams, papers and/or projects
• Cooperate in the safe and efficient use of studio facilities

One office hour per week required to help and address student questions and/or issues. An optional 2 studio hours per week are available. Rate would be an additional $250 for the semester for each additional office hour per week.

Qualifications/Requirements
• MFA Studio Art – Ceramics.
• 1-3 years of work related experience to effectively teach the position’s responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.
• Should be familiar with Barry systems for grading and Canvas.
• Needs to be a good communicator to students.
• Decisions generally affect own position or specific functional area.
• Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
