The Opportunity
Lesley University seeks an Adjunct Faculty in our College of Art & Design’s Fine Arts department to teach a Fall 2022 semester course.
The selected individual will be responsible for Ceramics: Wheel Throwing. Course description is as follows: This course introduces students to throwing clay on the potter’s wheel. Students learn to center, shape, alter, combine, and carve wheel thrown forms. Projects focus on developing skill and expressive content in both wheel-thrown vessel and sculptural forms. Various surface treatments, slip/glaze applications, kiln loading, and firing methods are introduced. Ceramics studio available for student use. at Lesley University is seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Ceramics with a focus on Wheel Throwing

Faculty will encourage students to demonstrate a critical understanding of the research, interpretation and processes of wheel throwing and be introduced to both traditional, archeological methods to contemporary practices and conceptual applications.

Students will learn to work and communicate effectively during regular in-class group assignments and through critique processes.

A letter of interest, CV/resume, link to website (with updated images) including work from self and student where possible (can include a PDF) and a statement addressing past and/or potential contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion through teaching, professional activity, and/or service must be included for full consideration.

Qualities and Capabilities
The successful candidate will have:
• A Masters in Fine Arts or BFA + experience (related fields (preferred)
• Teaching experience in Ceramics (or related fields) at the college; level or two years of professional experience in visual arts
• A strong portfolio and gallery exhibition work evidence through social media and professional website.
• Evidence of ceramics, wheel throwing, hand building and sculpture expertise including kiln loading, ceramic glazing (various processes) and general ceramic studio coordination
