Sam Bakewell: dream-backed is on view at Corvi-Mora, London

April 25 – June 2, 2024

Tommaso Corvi-Mora is thrilled to present an exhibition of new work by Sam Bakewell, his third at the gallery.

The exhibition consists of a group of abstract process-led clay works furthering his interest in the language of painting and colour. With clay as the ground, medium and subject, the current works hone in on a psychosexual material love affair, probing desire and dream logic.

Sam Bakewell earned an MA in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art in 2011. In 2015 he won the BCB Award at the British Ceramic Biennial in Stoke on Trent and was awarded the Jerwood Makers in 2017. In 2018 he participated in the European Ceramic Context at the Bornholm Kunstmuseum in Denmark. In 2019, he was an artist in residence at the Victoria & Albert Museum and continues to exhibit internationally.
