Judi Tavill solo exhibition at Adamah Gallery, Columbus

Judi Tavill solo exhibition opens this week at Adamah Gallery, Columbus, OH

November 2-22, 2024

Adamah Gallery is thrilled and honored to host Judi Tavill for a featured exhibition from November 2nd to November 22nd. The opening reception will be held during the Short North Arts District “Gallery Hop” on November 2nd from 4-8pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

Judi Tavill lives and works in Rumson, NJ. Tavill accesses the malleable, subtractive and additive qualities of clay as she couples graphite drawing with sculptural form. This show is a selection of current work from her “Entanglement” series. These biomorphic abstractions reference our interconnectedness and the elaborate networks that define our complex world while inviting contemplation and reflection upon the part we play in it.

Tavill’s work is currently on view in exhibitions at the Morris Museum and the Montclair Art Museum and has previously been shown at Hunterdon Art Museum, Monmouth Museum and Trenton State Museum in New Jersey. A spring solo show of work from this series was held at Ivy Brown Gallery (Meatpacking District) and select pieces were recently shown at the Cavin-Morris Gallery (Chelsea) in Manhattan and Galerie Lucida in Red Bank, NJ.

Her work is collected throughout the US and abroad and resides in the permanent collection of the Flint Institute of Art Museum. Tavill was recently awarded and completed residencies at Vermont Studio Center, Virginia Center for Creative Arts and Buffalo Creek Arts Center in Nevada where she developed several new sculptures for this show!

Adamah is looking forward to hosting Tavill and her impressive ceramic work.

Adamah is a ceramics gallery located in the Short North Arts District of Columbus, Ohio. Specializing in three dimensional work made from clay, the gallery features a wide variety of ceramic artists – from local to international, functional to conceptual. Founded in March of 2024 by Joshua Schottenstein (a ceramicist born and raised in Columbus), the gallery aims to elevate and highlight a broad range of both emerging and established ceramicists who’s work originates “from the ground”, or Adamah, in Hebrew. Additionally, Joshua built out his studio underneath the gallery, which is also utilized for workshops and instructional classes.
