Senior Advisor specialized in mould-making at European Ceramic Workcentre (EKWC)

Senior Advisor specialized in mould-making at European Ceramic Workcentre (EKWC), Oisterwijk, The Netherlands

Posted on August 25, 2025

The European Ceramic Workcentre (EKWC) is an international artist-in-residence and research centre for ceramics. Each year, we welcome over 60 artists, designers, and architects from the Netherlands and abroad to experiment with clay. These residencies lead to technical innovations and remarkable artworks that are exhibited worldwide. EKWC combines the advanced technical expertise of our advisors with state-of-the-art facilities and a culture of openness, where recipes, processes, and innovations are freely shared. This makes the centre a truly unique place to work.

We are currently seeking a Senior Advisor specialized in mould-making (16–24 hours per week).

The job
Together with the team, you will mentor and support residents throughout their stay, assisting them at every stage of the ceramic process. Your main focus will be advising residents on the use of slip-casting and press moulds in materials such as plaster, silicone, and wood. You will share your expertise in a way that empowers residents to create their own moulds. The size of the moulds ranges from just a few centimetres to around two metres. You will also contribute to innovation and research projects in a dynamic, international artistic environment.

Your profile
• Higher professional education level (or equivalent) with at least 10 years’ experience across the full ceramic process, and extensive technical expertise in mould-making.
• Confident working in an international artistic context, with demonstrable affinity or experience with art.
• An engaged, supportive mentor who inspires professionals, combining technical ceramic expertise with strong knowledge-sharing skills and a research-driven mindset.
While we are primarily looking for a senior professional, we are also open to candidates with strong potential to grow into the role: minimum higher professional education, 5–8 years of broad ceramic experience, and proven expertise in mould-making.

What we offer
• A position in an international, creative, and inspiring environment. • A dynamic and varied role with scope for your own ideas and initiatives. • A part-time appointment of 16–24 hours per week with the prospect of long-term collaboration.
• Travel expenses reimbursed in line with our policy.
• Depending on your seniority, sector knowledge, and work experience, we offer a gross monthly salary between €3,305 and €5,694 (full-time). Additional qualifications may lead to a higher salary scale.

Interested?
Do you see yourself in this role? Please send your motivation letter and CV by 26 September to info@ekwc.nl. Initial interviews will take place in the first week of October 2025.
For questions about the vacancy, please contact Geertje Jacobs via geertje@ekwc.nl.

Diversity and inclusion
We believe our team should reflect a diversity of talent. We therefore warmly encourage applications from all interested candidates (M/F/X), particularly those with a migration background or bicultural identity.
