A message from the editor

February 2, 2026
in News

As you may know, this publication is a labor of ❤️. Everything we do—from publishing articles and exhibition reviews to sharing the latest news and opportunities for artists—is made possible by readers like you. We strive to keep our content free and accessible to all, but this is only possible with the support of our members.

Reflecting on this past year (2025), it’s clear how much the publication has grown, and it’s been a challenge, to say the least. We reached a milestone of over 700,000 unique visitors, which required migrating the entire publication to a costly managed private server.

This was also our first year publishing Ceramics Now Magazine every single month. It was a massive undertaking for me to juggle the complex editorial work with the technical demands of a fast-growing project. I’m reaching the limits of what I can manage on my own and hope to bring in additional support this year to keep the publication running.

Alongside hundreds of artist profiles, exhibition features, and news pieces published throughout the year, we also commissioned and published over 50 in-depth articles by collaborators, paying over five figures in writing fees to fairly compensate their work.

Despite this, only a tiny fraction of readers (under 4% of newsletter subscribers or 0.15% of website visitors) have chosen to become paid members. This means our resources to keep this independent platform running remain extremely limited.

This February, we have set a goal to reach 100 new members, and I hope you will consider joining us as one of them.

I know a lot is happening in the world right now, and it can get overwhelming. But I also believe that supporting the communities closest to us—those that shape our work and our passions—is more important than ever. If you share our love for ceramics and wish to support the growth of our publication, I warmly invite you to become a member.

Your support will make a real difference. You’ll get instant access to Ceramics Now Magazine, including our upcoming issue later this month, and you’ll help us keep the platform strong and independent.

Thank you for being here! I truly appreciate you being part of our community. Now is the time to show your love for ceramics 🙌

Yours,
Vasi Hirdo
