Applications close December 20, 2020 – Read more

Cluster, the creative platform tailored to the needs of artists and young collectors, launches the Cluster Residency programme created to support craft makers, designers and ceramic artists with creative space, mentoring and an exhibition.

Working from a studio in East London with specific equipment provided in response to the artist’s desires, residents will be given a custom designed programme of one-on-one mentoring sessions with industry professionals, including Angel Monzon, Director of Vessel Gallery, Randa Missir, Director of Pik’d Gallery, and Roddy Clarke, Design journalist at FT, who will guide them through research and production, and help shape their concluding solo show in a central London gallery.

The residency will last for 4 weeks in Spring 2021 at a time suitable for the artist with career support continuing for one year (or more) during which their work will also be exhibited at the Cluster fair.

Furthermore, Cluster team will select 25 artists from all applicants to be featured on Cluster’s online shop accompanied with a custom made artist profile page. No commission on sales will be taken for the first 6 months.

It’s an incredible opportunity! To deep in such a creative inviroment… I’m a sculptor working mostly in clay and for me it sounds like a dream!
Is it possible that dream is coming true? Here it’s my statement:
    I love clay.
I do not know if I was born with this love. But from the time I can remember, I remember myself playing with clay. As a kid I worked in modeling clay of different colors. 50 books of the encyclopedia were marked with this sticky substance making my dad angry. I was working on my sculpture garden making landscapes, planting trees and filling that environment with lots of animals. The Encyclopedia had great pictures of existing and extinct species. All that clay jungle was built on 30″x30″ piece of plywood in a corner of the room. Once my little brother who was not walking very well back then awkwardly sat on a top of my garden destroying everything… Now think, why the dinosaur era ended so abruptly…
I kept this love dormant most of my life but never lost it entirely.  It sort of gives me a connection to the original source.
My language in sculpture uses line, shape and texture and minimum colors. I’m fluent in this language, it gives me a power to make an observation, to speak to myself and talk to others. Those composition of masses, darkness and light create a pavement to the essence or, at least show the direction.
Clay is a medium that energize my creativity, channels my thoughts and rare I use pen and paper to sketch.
     I love clay.
