There are a few days left to view ‘Festivities’: The 19th International Ceramics Competition of Carouge, Geneva

September 14 to December 1, 2024

Since 1987, the City of Carouge (Geneva, Switzerland) has been organizing a biennial ceramics competition. The Musée de Carouge is pleased to present the exhibition of selected works of the 19th edition, offering a broad panorama of contemporary ceramic creation focusing on an imposed theme: Festivities. The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 2pm to 6pm, free admission. Organized with the support of the Alfred and Eugénie Baur Foundation, the Bruckner Foundation for the Promotion of Ceramics and swissceramics – Swiss Ceramics Association.

Festivities have always been present in all human societies and at all latitudes to celebrate happy or unfortunate events. Characterized by excesses and moments of explosion and effervescence, they are a counterpoint to the monotony that punctuates our daily lives.

Collective or private, high-society or popular, ancient or contemporary, festivities constitute a vast subject that is addressed by 560 artists within the framework of the International Ceramics Competition of the City of Carouge. The 52 works selected by the jury analyze, divert or critique festive rituals and their accessories in this exhibition that marks the 40th anniversary of the Musée de Carouge.

With the following artists
Bajtlik Jan & Frydman Kuhn Lynn, Beigel Lena, Bell Nadine, Bersou Frede, Berthet Louis, Botkine Tatiana, Caspi Uriel H, Charrié Nathalie, Chave Rosa-Ly, Clerc Fabien, Cornier Stanislas, Cousty Mariette, Détraux Kim, Erda Zimic Elena Vacide, Fink Peter, Gassmann Sara, Gaulot Coline, Glave Patricia, Grüneke Anna Heike, Gürel Nilgün, Handrick Noémi, Hartmann Rasmussen Malene, Houriet Pernelle, Humbert Timothée, Ino Kimie, Jallais Abel, Kintgen Yanne, Kurklietis Valdas, Lewis Peter, Lin Jui Hwa, Lu Ming, Macdonald Andrew, Machuel Simone, Offhause Yusuké, Öner Ömer, Ordway Eric, Ouellette Kathy, Penalva Robin, Pinna Arianna, Rapin Camille, Ripoll Anja, Sauce Mathilde, Sbrana Caterina, Schneider Maude, Simcha Even-Chen, SUPERPOLY, Terpigoreva Katia, Tolmbaye Azeline, Van San Tamara, Velimir Vukićević, Wieland Émilie et Yu Cheng Chung.
