Today we launched a job board with current vacancies and opportunities: ceramics teaching jobs, pottery intructor jobs, faculty jobs and more listings. The job board is part of the Resources section that is now available on Ceramics Now’s web publication.
The Ceramics Program at the Office for the Arts at Harvard invites artists to apply to their 2022-23 Artist in Residency program. The residency offers artists the opportunity to involve themselves in research and growth, pushing their art in new directions in a dynamic, urban studio connected to the Harvard community. Individuals will have the opportunity to build relevant skills in research, professional development, technical ability, creative problem solving, teaching and community involvement. Applications deadline: April 1st.
In the latest issue of Studio Potter, Nicolle Hamm explores the routes of ceramic raw materials in an effort to understand the impact of her practice. Randi O’Brien, co-editor of SP: “She has a sincere passion for ceramics and the clay community and pairs those strengths with the knowledge that material routes place a heavy burden on the earth we call home. Her article is a call to look beyond ourselves, summon the talents and strength we inherently carry, and transform our practices into purposeful work.”
Applications are open for the Greenwich House Pottery Residency and Fellowship Program, in New York. The program has existed since at least the early 1960s when Jane Hartsook invited Peter Voulkos to teach and work in the Pottery, but was relaunched in 2015. This is an opportunity for experienced ceramic artists to have the time and resources to experiment and create a new body of work. Applications due: April 1st.
If you have teaching experience and have worked before with audiences who have additional needs, the Leach Pottery in St. Ives invites you to introduce yourself to become part of their Schools, Families, Communities or Adult learning programmes. Depending on the nature of work delivered, fees range from £140 a day for course leaders to hourly rates for workshop assistants. Application deadline: February 28.
Clay Art Center (Port Chester, NY) just announced a call for entry to The Family Portrait, curated by guest juror Kukuli Velarde. They invite US-based artists to submit ceramic works that explore the meaning and definition of the family unit as image, as a system, as historical reference, or metaphor for where we are as a contemporary culture and society.
An Independent Ceramics Market will take place on Saturday at Truman’s Social Club in London. Over 60 ceramic artists and potters will show their work. The ceramic market provides a unique opportunity to see a diverse range of ceramic artwork, and buy directly from the artists.
