Ulrica Trulsson: From Snow to Sand is on view at Sabbia Gallery, Sydney

January 25 – February 18, 2023

Sabbia Gallery is pleased to present “From Snow to Sand”, a solo exhibition by Ulrica Trulsson.

Swedish born artist Ulrica Trulsson creates beautifully crafted pots with intriguing glazed surfaces in shifting colours and textures. Previously based in South Australia at JamFactory Contemporary Craft and Design, Ulrica now lives in Brisbane/Meanjin making work from her home studio for exhibitions across Australia. Ulrica’s work has been acquired by the Art Gallery of Western Australia and Hamilton Gallery, and is held in many private collections nationally and overseas.

As an artist I pay attention to patterns, textures and objects on the ground. Even in their simplest form they can hold my attention and make me discover new details I hope to translate into my work. Having started my life in an environment where snow covers the ground for many months of the year, the way I connect with the living landscape around me now is naturally through a lens of contrast and comparison. I am always newly arrived in this environment, seeing it with fresh eyes. Still, it is where I am most at home. The wonder of it is completely familiar.
