This is a pooled position from which Adjunct/Affiliates will be hired. This pooled position will serve as an electronic file and replace receiving paper CV’s. As openings occur, we will draw candidates from this pool.

Position Summary or Faculty Qualifications
Saint Joseph’s University is looking to hire highly qualified adjunct faculty. Adjunct faculty may teach 1-2 courses per semester.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach introductory level ceramics and pottery courses. Preparation of assignments, class materials, and demonstrations as needed. Provide support and guidance to students in the use of ceramics equipment and materials. Evaluate and grade student assignments and provide timely feedback on Canvas. Develop and distribute a course syllabus and schedule that communicates the course objectives, policies, and grading criteria. Communicate with students through email in a timely manner. Keep 1 office hour per week per class.

Secondary Responsibilities:
Assist in the firing of student work as needed. Help maintain a clean studio environment.

Minimum Requirements: MFA Degree

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous teaching experience and a willingness to be flexible and responsive in designing course curriculum to meet the needs of SJU students who may not have a background in previously studying studio art.
