The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, Area of Art and Art History invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Studio Art at the assistant professor level beginning in August 2025. The Department seeks candidates prepared to teach all levels of ceramics, foundation-level classes, as well as a range of upper-level courses relevant to the candidate¿s interests. Our programs are integrative in nature and emphasize interdisciplinary approaches. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to teach art concepts that are relevant to contemporary theory and visual culture. We prefer candidates with experience in a variety of 3D processes.
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about teaching, which is the primary focus of this position. On-going scholarly activity and university service are also required, commensurate with the teaching load. The teaching load for this position is four courses per semester with no more than three preparations. Each studio meets for 225 minutes 3.75 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
• MFA in Studio Art
• Experience teaching ceramics at the university level
• Maintain an active professional creative practice
• Strong knowledge of ceramic history and contemporary art
• Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Teaching experience in foundation classes (Drawing, 2D/3D Design)
• Experienced in teaching all levels of ceramics
• Interest in teaching installation art and integrative studio art

Department Description
The Art & Art History Program is housed in the School of Design and Communication within the College of Fine Arts and Communication, at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. This program offers a BFA, BA and Minor in Studio Arts and a Minor in Art History.
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is a comprehensive, liberal arts university and is one of 13 four-year university campuses within the University of Wisconsin System. The School of Design and Communication offers a diverse array of liberal arts and professional degree programs in Studio Art, Art History, Graphic Design, Interior Architecture, Media Studies, and Professional Communication. UW-Stevens Point is the only university in the state to have all its fine arts programs (art and design, dance, music, and theatre) nationally accredited.
Our ceramics studio is 2,500 square feet with LED lighting and natural light from the windows on the north wall. The studio is equipped with thirteen throwing wheels, a slab roller, an extruder, and a pug mill. Equipment for mold making and slip casting is also available. There is a separate 589 square-foot kiln room, equipped with three electric kilns with digital controllers and one gas kiln. The facility also includes a 219 square-foot room for glaze mixing and a 318 square-foot room for green storage. The entire facility is well-ventilated, including a spray booth in the glaze room.

Terms of Employment
This is a tenure-track, academic year based faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
