Steven Edwards

Steven Edwards (b. 1976, UK) is a ceramic artist based in the UK whose practice centres on material investigation, sculptural form, and the expressive potential of clay. Working from his studio in London, he explores the physicality of the medium through processes that examine the interplay of form, surface, and the act of making.

Edwards holds an MA in Ceramics from the University for the Creative Arts (2018) and a BA in Applied Arts with a ceramics specialism from Derby University (1997). He has exhibited at major art, design and craft platforms including the British Ceramics Biennial, London Craft Week, London Design Festival, and Paris Design Week, alongside numerous solo and group exhibitions across the UK and internationally. Solo exhibitions include: Plaisirs gourmands (2023) at Galerie de l’Ancienne Poste, France, “Infinite Folds (2022) and Soft Geometry (2026) at Vessel Gallery, London.

His practice also extends to large‑scale outdoor installations, most notably From Humble Beginnings, commissioned for Surrey Unearthed at the Watts Gallery. Edwards’ work is represented in notable permanent collections, including Chatsworth House, home of the Devonshire family.

In 2024, Edwards was a finalist for the Brookfield Properties Craft Award during Collect, the Crafts Council’s international art fair in London.
