Karen Harsbo: Happenstance, 2011-2013

These works have arisen from experiments with mixing and fusing known ceramic materials such as glaze, plaster, porcelain. ”What then happens can be a mistake, but opens up possibilities and a creative potential that cannot be foreseen.

In the experiments, I was preoccupied with the question: How Knowledge moves from one material to another. As knowledge and possibilities contained in the physical material; as human experience of touching and processing the materials; and as knowledge of the material’s connection to history and culture.

Works were showed at an exhibition at Ann Linnemann Gallery, together with works by Neil Brownsword.
