🌿 Ceramics takes center stage at Collect 2022, the leading international fair for contemporary craft and design that will take place in London later this week. Over thirty galleries (32 out of 40) will show ceramic works at Collect 2022, making ceramics the best-represented discipline at this year’s edition. 📢 CERCCO, the Experimentation and Research Centre for Contemporary Ceramics of the Geneva University of Art and Design just announced a call for entries for their residency WORKSPACE at CERCCO, aimed at designers, artists, ceramists and architects, who want to develop a personal project in ceramics. Application deadline: March 20.
👌 Banff Centre recently announced a call for submission to their Material Transformations residency. Led by Candice Lin with Mel Y. Chen, Beatriz Cortez, and Kristine Thompson, this residency will think with the histories latent within natural materials used in artistic production, such as the extractive legacies of different insects, minerals, and clay.
💬 The North-West Ceramics Foundation presents an online talk with Dr. Ronnie Watt, a specialist researcher and collector of South African studio pottery and studio ceramic art. His lecture, Reading a negotiation and expression of identity in South African Ceramics will address the expression of identity within a multi-cultural society, which has been a distinctive feature of South African ceramic art. Registration is free.
🎉 The Pottery Expo at Warrandyte (Melbourne, Australia) takes place this weekend and features the work of over 60 ceramic artists. The organizers will also host a talks program, prizes, music, live demonstrations, and an exhibition of ceramics by Australian members of the International Academy of Ceramics.
🌍 If you’re planning to visit the 59th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale this year (April 23 – November 27), don’t miss the Latvian pavilion exhibition by artists Skuja Braden (Inguna Skuja and Melissa D. Breiden). Titled Selling Water by the River, the exhibition features an installation with more than 300 porcelain works. Read an interview with the artists.
